We use them every day. They're in our pockets, purses, homes and vehicles. Lithium batteries are part of our lives. Just because they're so commonplace doesn't mean there aren’t any risks associated with transporting them as cargo.

The pictures above show the damage that a couple large lithium batteries made that were charging and left unmonitored for an extended period of time. It's a startling reality of the power these batteries contain. Even the small lithium batteries in your pocket can do a great deal of damage if mishandled. Just because they are part of our everyday life doesn't mean they can be shipped as regular freight.
